In 1987, Mike Soldano introduced the world to an icon-in-the-making: the Super Lead Overdrive 100 Watt valve amplifier – better known as the ’SLO’. This is the amp that managed to set a new standard when it came to high-gain guitar sound and remains, right up until today, a favourite among guitarists all over the universe. The powerful drive of the SLO reinforced the metal and rock sound of names like Mick Mars from Mötley Crüe, Warren DeMartini from Ratt, and Howard Leese from Heart. Meanwhile, the sweet and tasty crunch channel was a favourite among names like Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton and Gary Moore.
The SLO Plus: Harness the Essence of the SLO-100
The Soldano SLO Plus pedal retains the same trademark cascading gain stages, putting that classic high-gain overdrive and that rich crunch all in one compact box. Via the independent master and gain controls provided per channel; the powerful three-band equaliser section; and the fitted Presence pot and side-mounted Deep switch, you gain full control over every detail and facet of the output – just like you would with a real ’SLO’.
Rich Overdrive, Dynamic Distortion & Crystalline Cleans
The sheer versatility of the Soldano SLO supports effortless switching between rich overdrive, dynamic distortion and even crystalline cleans. Basically, this pedal sets up your rig for anything, so you can combine it with a power amp to serve as a preamp unit; connect it up to an IR loader; or simply plant it on your pedalboard as a central overdrive pedal. All of that, and you don’t even have to heft around a valve amplifier.
